Services
Producer and supplier of onion sets.
VAB Agri Trade is a producer and supplier of first-year planting sets. We grow a large portion of our sets ourselves, so we know exactly what each variety has to offer. This allows us to provide you with expert advice on which variety best suits your cultivation goals.
Our sets are grown across the Netherlands to minimize risks. Together with our cultivation specialists, we select disease-free plots. This ensures that we know exactly where our planting sets grow best and how we can guarantee the highest quality.

Varieties & certification
Our onion sets are delivered with the appropriate certifications.
All onion sets supplied by VAB Agri Trade are NAK-Tuinbouw certified. This means that they have been inspected during cultivation and processing, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards. The seed used for the cultivation of our onion sets also comes from expert seed suppliers with the appropriate certifications.
We not only offer onion sets that we have grown ourselves but also varieties from partner companies, for whom we act as a dealer. This enables us to provide a wide range of varieties, ensuring there is always an onion variety that perfectly suits your soil type, region, and cultivation goals.

Troy
Winter-hardy onion set variety
You can plant the Troy as a fall onion in the autumn, or as a spring onion in the spring. The Troy as a fall onion is similar to or slightly later than the Shakespeare, has a thicker neck, and provides slightly higher yields. The quality of this onion is also very good.
Stuttgarter Riesen
Yellow onion set variety
This yellow onion set is the standard planting onion in many countries. It is characterized by its flat shape. This variety is grown in the Netherlands but is primarily exported to Southeast Europe, where this shape of onion is still the local standard. It remains popular among hobby gardeners as well.
Akado
Red onion set variety
This is a relatively new variety in the red onion segment. It has new characteristics, including resistance to bolting, making it one of the few red seed onions that doesn't need to be treated. The variety falls into the mid-early segment and features good skin quality and a thin neck.
